About The Position

The Steakhouse Hostperson/Cashier is responsible for greeting and seating guests pleasantly, quickly, and efficiently, ensuring proper service and the smooth operation of the restaurant. This role involves communicating guest opportunities to management, answering phones, taking reservations, and coordinating them. The host/cashier must have detailed knowledge of the facility, its amenities, and the responsibilities of all service employees. They need to be aware of dining room activities, service standards, table bussing, station assignments, special functions, and item availability. Additionally, this role includes running the cash register, handling money, ensuring employee safety, assisting with bussing and resetting tables, and maintaining cleanliness of the host stand and surrounding areas. The host/cashier is responsible for the register bank, all money, charges, and comps collected, and must be knowledgeable in all methods of check tendering. They will balance checks at the end of the shift and submit their work in an organized manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a fast-paced high-energy service environment.
  • Ability to courteously and efficiently interact with Guests to ensure their satisfaction while dining, in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage time effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Obtain all required work cards.

  • Cash handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and seat Guests pleasantly, quickly, and efficiently.
  • Ensure proper service and the efficient and smooth operation of the restaurant.
  • Communicate all Guest opportunities/situations to management or relief personnel.
  • Answer phones, take reservations and coordinate reservations.
  • Have knowledge of all service employees' responsibilities.
  • Have detailed knowledge of the facility and its amenities.
  • Be aware of activities in dining room, including service standards, bussing of tables, station assignments, special functions, the presence of executives, and the availability or unavailability of particular items.
  • Run cash register and handle money.
  • Ensure employee safety.
  • Assist in bussing and/or resetting tables.
  • Remove debris from the floor as necessary.
  • Monitor door at all times to ensure prompt seating of Guests.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of host/hostess stand, floors, menus, signage, and special boards.
  • Responsible for register bank and all money, charges and comps collected during a shift.
  • Have knowledge of all methods of check tendering (Cash, comp, coupon, credit card, gift certificates, etc.).
  • Balance all checks at the end of the shift and turn in work, in a neat and organized manner.
