About The Position

The Hostler is an hourly position that reports to the assigned shift shipping supervisor. The role is responsible and accountable for operating motorized equipment to move tankers and/or trailers as directed. The Hostler moves equipment between staging and loading areas, anticipates trailer needs, performs inspections and inventories, and follows safety, food safety, quality, and sanitation procedures. The position requires reliable attendance and consistent work hours, and includes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read and write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data.
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.
Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills.
Organized and detail oriented.
Ability to work independently.
Minimum age of 18.
Must pass a drug screen and physical.
Valid driver's license required.

Bilingual skills may be preferred based on business necessity.

Responsibilities

Operate motorized equipment to move tankers and trailers and fuel equipment as needed.
Perform daily maintenance checks and report malfunctions to the garage.
Couple and uncouple tractor-trailer units and safely connect and disconnect brake lines.
Shuttle tankers and trailers from staging areas to loading areas, including docks, doors, and platforms.
Anticipate trailer needs and move tankers and trailers according to business needs.
Perform required trailer inventories and temperature checks and report discrepancies.
Secure equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, safety and security policies, and food safety and quality system requirements, including pertinent regulatory, customer, and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) requirements.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Maintain reliable attendance and consistent work hours.
Perform other duties as assigned.
