About The Position

As a Host at Cellar Hand, you are the first and last impression of our guest experience. You play a key role in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere while ensuring smooth dining room flow and exceptional service from arrival to departure.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Prior hosting or hospitality experience preferred
  • Strong communication and guest service skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in managing reservations
  • Familiarity with reservation platforms such as OpenTable and Tock preferred
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, some evenings, and adapt to a flexible schedule
  • Ability to walk, sit and stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a genuine and friendly welcome to every guest, setting the tone for an outstanding dining experience
  • Manage guest flow by thoughtfully assigning tables based on rotation, reservations, and guest preferences
  • Answer phones and respond promptly to guest inquiries, reservations, and voicemail messages with professionalism and positivity
  • Communicate important guest information, feedback, and operational updates to management in a timely manner
  • Maintain strong awareness of the dining room to support service efficiency and enhance guest satisfaction
  • Assist with clearing, resetting, and preparing tables as needed to optimize seating availability
  • Support team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-energy environment, staying productive during slower periods
  • Complete all opening, closing, and side work duties accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entryway, and surrounding areas
  • Ensure menus are clean, presentable, and adequately stocked; communicate supply needs to management
  • Perform regular restroom checks and coordinate with utility staff to maintain cleanliness standards
  • Uphold all safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, including adherence to the company uniform policy
  • Demonstrate knowledge of menu offerings, wine lists, and promotions to confidently assist guests
  • Foster guest loyalty by recognizing returning guests and supporting the development of a VIP and regular clientele list
  • Help maintain the overall ambiance and aesthetic that reflects the Cellar Hand brand
  • Warmly thank guests and invite them to return, leaving a lasting positive impression
