About The Position

Be a Star at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts! Hosts are responsible for greeting customers in a friendly manner and organizing table seating based on reservations. This is a great position for someone looking to get started in the hospitality field. Work is split between our candle lit indoor dining room and our beautiful outdoor stage located along the Downtown Riverwalk. Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz offers flexible hours, event-based schedules including evenings and weekends, and a team-based work environment. Essential Functions: Welcome and greet arriving guests, seat guests at tables, ensure flow of operations, and acknowledge departing guests in a friendly manner. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests. Knowledge of Straz Center menus and products. Handle cash accurately. Maintain clean service and dining areas. Be ready and willing to assist servers as situations arise. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working. Complete daily paperwork neatly and accurately.

Requirements

• Ability to work with a schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays
• Possess basic math skills and have ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system
• Customer service skills and experience
• Be able to work in a stand up for position for long periods of time (minimum 5 hours)

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience preferred, but not required
• Prior experience as a Host in a full-service, high-volume restaurant preferred, but not required
• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred
