About The Position

The Hunt Room inside the Historic Cavalier Hotel is seeking a Host to provide guest services including seating, merchandise sales, and assisting with general restaurant operations. The role involves efficient guest seating, guiding guests to tables, welcoming guests, and handling retail, food, and beverage sales as a cashier. The Host is responsible for maintaining an accurate cash drawer and adhering to all cash handling policies and procedures, all while representing the company's image and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills are required to interact both person to person and over the telephone.
  • Must speak clearly and have the ability to clearly articulate thoughts.
  • Must possess good listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic mathematical skills required to count money, make change, and ensure accurate inventory counts are recorded.
  • Must be able to complete all position-specific tests according to department standards.
  • Some High School Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the restaurant or hotel industry is a plus.
  • Previous working experience with computers is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes standard seating procedures to coordinate efficient guest seating according to table availability and seating requirements for all guest parties.
  • Safely guides guests to the assigned table while providing pleasant conversation related to the establishment or tourist location.
  • Provides an enthusiastic welcome to all guests while gathering their information needed to determine the best seating accommodations for each party.
  • Provides knowledgeable and courteous assistance for guests who choose to order items to be taken off property (retail, food, and beverages).
  • Maintains an accurate cash drawer and adheres to all cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Knows their job, completes job skills training, and possesses clear knowledge of the job, property standards, and listens attentively in Pre-shift.
  • Reports to work on time, in uniform, and follows clock-in/out procedures.
  • Maintains a friendly, approachable demeanor and is always willing to assist.
  • Follows property personal appearance standards, is well-groomed, in uniform, and practices good personal hygiene.
  • Conducts themselves professionally and collaboratively with Guests and fellow Associates in accordance with the company’s service culture.
  • Understands the needs of the shift, uses resources properly, and completes all assignments methodically and promptly.
  • Uses approved tools and checklists to complete assigned tasks.
  • Produces work that meets the standards of the department in terms of volume and quality.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized and reports any deficiencies promptly.
  • Reports unsafe work conditions or practices and safety or security violations.
  • Cooperates with other associates and supervisors to create a positive work environment.
  • Greets Guests in a friendly & courteous manner upon entering & exiting the restaurant.
  • Gathers necessary guest information needed to provide the best seating accommodations.
  • Informs guests of information related to seating such as approximate wait times & offering suggestions for more timely seating.
  • Provides guest seating in a courteous, safe, & efficient manner.
  • Provides guests with helpful menu information & personal recommendations to assist with the ordering process.
  • Performs assigned sidework developed to maintain general organization & cleanliness of the host station & all related areas.
  • Organizes, inventories, & sells retail items (if applicable).
  • Continually communicates all seating needs to all appropriate management, server assistants, kitchen staff, & servers to ensure optimum seating is achieved.
  • Provides general information for all Guests as requested.
  • Successfully completes all other duties as assigned.
