About The Position

The Host is responsible for greeting and escorting guests to tables in a friendly and professional manner, managing telephone inquiries, and working closely with the Manager-on-Duty to ensure maximum guest satisfaction and dining pleasure. This role involves recognizing and acknowledging regular and VIP guests, seating guests efficiently, and handling reservations and to-go orders. The Host must be knowledgeable about the menu, prices, dress code, location, payment methods, hours of operation, and room capacity. Additionally, the Host performs sidework to maintain a clean and orderly restaurant, thanks departing guests, and contributes to a positive team environment by embodying the company's core values of honesty, integrity, respect, commitment, and quality.

Requirements

  • Prior restaurant or customer service experience commensurate with position.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as menus, safety rules, training instructions and employee policies and procedures.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups of guests and other co-workers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and able to perform these operations using units of American money.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve problems in standard situations.
  • General social ability and salesmanship.
  • Ability to communicate well with customers, while being well mannered and professional.
  • Professional and well groomed appearance appropriate for the business of the restaurant.
  • Ability to learn Italian pronunciation of names and ingredients of all products.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts guests to tables in a friendly professional manner.
  • Answers telephone.
  • Works with Manager-on-Duty to cultivate maximum guest satisfaction and dining pleasure.
  • Welcomes guests with a pleasant and helpful attitude; recognizing and acknowledging regular and VIP guests.
  • Seats guests ensuring guest satisfaction and a smooth working pace in the dining room.
  • Answers telephones, records and confirms reservations, takes messages and to-go orders.
  • In some locations, also takes room service orders.
  • Is familiar with the menu, prices, dress code, location, phone numbers, accepted forms of payment, hours of operation and room capacity of the establishment.
  • Performs sidework as directed, to keep the restaurant clean, orderly and well stocked.
  • Thanks departing guests and bids them a pleasant day/evening.
  • Works as a team player; assumes a pleasant and helpful attitude toward guests and fellow co-workers to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Exemplifies the company's core values of honesty, integrity, respect, commitment and quality.
