About The Position

The Host position is responsible for greeting and seating guests, promoting guest relations, maintaining a clean and sanitary dining area, ensuring work stations are stocked and clean, and performing accounting transactions during their shift. When providing coverage in alcohol venues, the Host must also ensure responsible alcohol beverage service policies are followed.

Requirements

  • County of San Diego Food Handler Card

Responsibilities

  • Greets and seats guests.
  • Provides guests with service by acknowledging and welcoming them, verifying appropriate age on identification, entering guest count information, paging servers and guests, seating guests, and responding to guest requests.
  • Promotes guest relations by answering questions, providing menu information, explaining the guest seating program, providing promotional contest and giveaway information, giving assistance, and treating guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Maintains safe and sanitary dining areas by cleaning surfaces, picking up used plates, cups and utensils, disposing of trash, wiping down tables, and resetting tables.
  • Ensures work stations are stocked and clean by rolling silverware, folding napkins, setting tables, and cleaning Host/Hostess stations.
  • Provides accounting transactions by entering cash transactions into the point-of-sale system, counting currency, logging discounts, vouchers, VIP points and credit cards, balancing the money drawer, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Ensures responsible alcohol beverage service policies are followed by asking for proper identification, monitoring alcohol consumption, ensuring guests do not become intoxicated, stopping alcohol service at the designated time, and clearing the room of all alcoholic containers.
