About The Position

Main Street Grill is currently seeking a Host / Support Person to join our team. This position in the first point of contact for our guests, so the successful applicant will be personable, professional, and provide excellent customer service. The Host/Support is responsible for greeting guests, providing accurate wait times, escorting customers to their tables, and ensuring our guests have a positive experience during their visit. Other duties will include learning multiple support positions, like bussing, server help, to-gos, running orders, and others as assigned. Requirements

  • Understanding of restaurant etiquette and service functions
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Demonstrable customer service and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully, both over the phone and in person
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining area
  • Responsible, enthusiastic, reliable, and professional demeanor
  • Willingness to be cross-trained into other areas
  • Commitment to excellence in your job
  • Availability to work in shifts as needed
  • Good physical condition to walk and stand during an entire shift
  • Must have reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests to the venue
  • Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists
  • Answer phones, take messages, and book and manage reservations
  • Escort customers to assigned areas
  • Provide menus and announce server's name
  • Greet customers upon their departure
  • Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options
  • Maintain a clean reception area
  • Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g., children, elderly)
  • Assist service staff as needed
  • Learn a variety of support positions to aid service staff
  • Any other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor or management
