About The Position

The Host/Hostess position is part of the Food and Nutrition Services department at Texas Health Dallas. This role operates in a fast-paced environment, serving an average of 450 patients per meal. The team is diverse and inclusive, focusing on exceptional patient care with graciousness and courtesy. The hospital, Texas Health Dallas, is an 875-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital serving the Dallas community since 1966, specializing in various areas including cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, women's services, and emergency medicine. It is recognized as a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, a Comprehensive Stroke and Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, and holds multiple certifications and designations.

Requirements

  • 6 Months experience in a food service position or applicable customer service experience.
  • FHC - Food Handlers Certificate 30 Days Req

Nice To Haves

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Pref
  • Restaurant or Healthcare experience and prior supervisory/leadership experience pref

Responsibilities

  • Serve patient meals, assist with set up and prepare snacks accurately and timely according to procedures.
  • Return to the patient room within a reasonable period of time to pick up dirty tray and to confirm satisfaction with the patient.
  • Comply with hand hygiene, patient identification, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Utilize basic diet therapy training to assist patients in selecting correct menu items as needed.
  • Maintain food safety requirements according to HACCP and department standards in the performance of all duties.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area, ensuring compliance with health department and facility requirements.
  • Monitor, prepare, and deliver floor stock to designated units according to FIFO and check for expired product and/or prohibited food items.
  • Check and log refrigerator/freezer temperatures on the nursing units.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills at point of service and in resolution of complaints/concerns/questions.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
