About The Position

The Embassy Suites Rosemont hotel is located one mile from O'Hare International Airport and just minutes from the Kennedy Expressway and CTA Blue line. The host is the first and last person our guests come in contact with at our restaurant. This is a large responsibility that we take very seriously. You must exude confidence and never shy away from greeting or speaking to our guests. The manner in which you present yourself is also very important. Your duties will include but are not limited to: Answering phone calls, taking carry out orders, seating guests, and managing a wait list. You control the flow of our business and great multitasking skills are mandatory if you want to be a great host at SLYCE. You must take the time to learn everything you can about SLYCE and how it runs in order to best educate and set expectations for our guests. This may include our phone number, location/address, menu items, daily specials, business policies and operating. procedures, catering/banquet contact info, and assisting the servers. We are a family here at SLYCE and we demand that everyone we hire treat each other that way by always embracing teamwork and practicing respect for all our staff and guests. Your job can be very stressful at times and will require you to balance many tasks at once. Great communication with management, coworkers and guests is a must and contributes to the smooth, efficient operation of the restaurant. Remaining poised with a great attitude and contagious smile are your keys to success in this position!

Requirements

Hosts never turn our backs away from the front door, are never on our cellphones and always anticipate our guests’ needs
No prior restaurant experience required but helpful.
Ability to multitask and problem solve
Able to stand and work on feet for a minimum of eight hours.
High School diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Previous restaurant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Greeting our guests quickly and courteously, with a smile, asking the proper questions with authority, poise and confidence.
Required to be at the hostess stand at all times unless seating a table, if there are 2+ hosts scheduled one host will always remain up front.
Provide guests with menus and inform them of their server’s name upon seating.
Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate guest count.
Accommodates special needs of guests and communicates any needs to appropriate staff.
Assists dining room staff during rush periods by clearing and cleaning tables whenever possible.
Take to go orders and prepare for pick up or delivery
Practice proper and polite phone etiquette when receiving phone calls.
Able to stand and work on feet for long periods of time.

Learn everything you can about SLYCE and how it runs in order to best educate and set expectations for our guests.
