The Host assists the Restaurant Manager on duty with the day-to-day activities of the front-of-the-house to ensure consistently high levels of quality, service and guest satisfaction while maintaining a high level of profitability. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment aboard the vessel, focusing constantly on the safety of all guests and coworkers. The Host will also oversee the setting of assigned deck(s), including package assembly & placement, and side work & section assignments, and assist with the warm and efficient greeting and seating of guests when they arrive. They will coordinate buffets and table invitations on assigned deck(s), assist Servers and Server Assistants with table service, and maintain a high level of energy and a positive attitude. The Host will lead by example, remaining consistently professional and positive in front of staff. A comprehensive knowledge of all F&B Menu items, packages & POS systems (Toast) is required. The Host will interact with guests using scripted approaches, participate in all entertainment as scripted, and perform table touches for all individuals on deck and meet all group leaders. They will participate in and lead post-cruise clean up, assign duties and ensure the completion of all side work. A walk-through inspection with manager(s) at the completion of each cruise is required to ensure proper deck arrangement and sanitation. The Host will check in with managers following the cruise to address any issues or situations, and to offer solutions to problems. They must be prepared to begin work at the scheduled time and maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards. Additional job duties may be assigned.
