About The Position

We are hiring immediately for a part time HOST/HOSTESS position. This role is responsible for seating guests in the dining room and handling customer service situations as they arise. The position contributes to an enjoyable dining experience by maintaining a safe, clean, and neat environment. The role requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to get along well with others, flexibility, patience, and an interest in people. Sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information is important. The Host/Hostess will also supervise dining room associates to ensure proper customer service, food handling, and sanitation procedures are followed, assist with training new team members, and supervise the closing of the dining room, ensuring side work and station setup are completed. Knowledge of emergency safety procedures and assistance during evacuations is also a responsibility. Occasional bussing and food service may be required, along with operating various equipment. Collaboration with other departments for job duties and special events is expected. This position is part of a team that values diversity of thought and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Previous customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and directs guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements.
  • Helps create an overall enjoyable dining experience.

  • Helps train new food-service team members.
  • Supervises the closing of the assigned dining room; ensures side work and station setup is properly completed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency safety procedures and helps evacuate guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency.
  • Assists with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards.
  • May be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines.
  • Works with staff of other departments to perform job duties and during special events or functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
