About The Position

The Host/Hostess position will be responsible for greeting and seating guests who are dining at the restaurant for breakfast service. This position requires someone who can think on their feet while at the same time maintain a professional and friendly demeanor. Once the guest(s) are seated, the host will be required to prepare the guest of what to expect and if needed help serve coffee and or beverage of their choice. This role also involves ensuring equitable table rotation among servers and preparing the host stand with necessary information and materials.

Requirements

  • Must be able to follow directions.
  • Must be able to get along well with others.
  • Must be TIPS, CARE (or equivalent) certified, or become certified by first day on the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous service experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and seating guests.
  • Ensuring equitable table rotation among servers.
  • Preparing the host stand with necessary information and materials.
  • Serving coffee and beverages if needed.
  • Checking restaurant for proper set-up upon arrival.
  • Checking micro machines to ensure they are set to the proper menu.
  • Filling out floor plan by checking station rotation chart.
  • Assigning sidework schedule on floor plan.
  • Posting floor plan at host stand.
  • Filling out menu class form, gathering specials and daily information from expeditor or food production manager.
  • Conducting menu class.
  • Seating guests following a rotation of stations, issuing menus.
  • Removing extra silverware if there is an extra seat and no DRA.
  • Recording number of guests on guest flow chart per station.
  • Marking the next in rotation on the guest flow sheet.
  • Knowing micro procedure if applicable.
  • Checking opening sidework before sending servers on break.
  • Setting micro machines to the next shift’s menu and turning machines off.
  • Being familiar with hotel facilities and their location and hours of operation or where to direct guests to find this information.
  • Knowing directions to get to the hotel.
  • Carrying out all reasonable requests by management that the employee is capable of performing.
