About The Position

Black Bear Diners has served family-style food since 1995 and describes itself as a fun, family-friendly restaurant known for homemade food, large portions, and friendly service. As a Server Support Team member, the Host/Cashier helps provide guests with a positive and friendly experience by welcoming and seating guests, supporting dining-room operations, and handling takeout orders and payments. This is an on-site position.

Ability to stand for long periods on hard surfaces.
Ability to reach above and below waist level, including chest and shoulder level; bend, stoop, and squat; and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity in both hands for pushing, pulling, handling, gripping, and fine-finger tasks.
Ability to climb step stools for cleaning projects as needed.
Ability to work in cold or below-freezing temperatures and high-heat environments.
Must pass a pre-employment drug test for impairing drugs, including recreational marijuana; background checks and random drug testing also apply.
Visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

Accommodate guests’ special seating requests whenever possible.
Greet arriving guests warmly and promptly.
Seat guests according to their preferences while balancing customer flow across service stations.
When seating is limited, record guest names and party sizes, provide estimated wait times, and call guests when tables are available.
Offer menus when seating guests and inspect tables for proper presentation and completeness.
Relay messages to servers as needed.
Maintain clean entrances, lobbies, dining rooms, and restrooms.
Assist servers with maintaining and stocking service stations.
Take food and beverage orders from guests requesting takeout and enter orders in the point-of-sale system.
Process payments correctly and efficiently, and close checks.
Thank guests for visiting and invite them to return.
Perform assigned side work at the start and end of each shift.
Fill in as needed to support smooth and efficient restaurant operations, as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
Comply with company appearance and uniform standards.
