About The Position

The Black Bear Host/Cashier is responsible for helping ensure guests have a positive, friendly experience. Duties include welcoming and seating guests, managing waitlists, supporting servers, maintaining clean guest areas and service stations, handling takeout orders and payments, and completing assigned side work. The role follows company appearance and uniform standards and may be asked to help wherever needed to support efficient restaurant operations. This is an on-site, part-time position with flexible hours that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role requires prolonged standing and frequent movement, reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting. A pre-employment drug test and background check are required; random drug testing is also conducted. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Ability to bend, squat, and stoop for cleaning activities and climb step stools for cleaning projects as needed.
Ability to work in environments with cold or below-freezing temperatures and high heat, including walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and ovens.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check; employees are also subject to random drug testing.

Responsibilities

Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible.
Greet arriving guests warmly and promptly.
Seat guests according to their preferences while balancing customer flow in service stations.
When seating is limited, record guests’ names and party sizes, provide estimated wait times, and call guests when tables become available.
Offer menus upon seating and inspect tables for proper presentation and completeness.
Relay messages to servers as needed.
Maintain clean entrances, lobbies, dining rooms, and restrooms.
Assist servers with maintaining and stocking service stations.
Take and enter takeout food and beverage orders in the point-of-sale system.
Process payments correctly and efficiently and close checks.
Thank guests for visiting and invite them to return.
Perform assigned side work at the beginning and end of each shift.
Fill in as needed to support smooth restaurant operations, as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
Comply with company appearance and uniform standards.
