About The Position

Copper Mountain Resort is seeking a Host/Busser for the Winter 2026/2027 season. This role is crucial for coordinating the efficient flow of business through the dining room and surrounding areas, ensuring smooth operations for both servers and the kitchen. The position involves a rotation of duties including hosting, bussing, guest service, food expediting, food running, bar backing, maintaining sanitation standards, snow removal, stocking, dining room side work, trash removal, and dishwashing. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. The Host/Busser will act as a liaison between guests, servers, and management, ensuring a welcoming and efficient dining experience.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. and occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • If bar backing, must be able to assist with the lifting of kegs for up to 150 lbs.
  • Ability to be on one’s feet for excessive time periods of up to 6 hours.
  • Must own non-slip shoes.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Balance seat counts for servers and communicate with the team.
  • Seat guests in a manner that best benefits the kitchen by spreading out seating evenly.
  • Seat guests in a friendly manner as soon as possible and deliver menus.
  • Act as a liaison between server, front door, and management.
  • Buss tables and re-set them as needed.
  • Assist with bar backing duties, including restocking supplies, cleaning glassware, changing kegs, replacing alcohol product, and restocking garnishes.
  • Support team members through teamwork and mutual respect.
  • Ensure guests have what they need (menu, water).
  • Clear plates, silverware, and glassware promptly and in a friendly manner.
  • Refill water and drinks as needed.
  • Perform clean-up duties as needed.
  • Answer guest inquiries.
  • Make guests feel welcome and engage in small talk.
  • Always smile.
  • Be available to guests and employees at all times.
  • Answer all incoming phone calls in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Assist with to-go orders.
  • Listen to all messages and return all phone calls.
  • Clock in for shifts once appearance requirements are met and in uniform.
  • Review reservations, ensuring servers are seated fairly and timed correctly.
  • Assist with waitlist coordination and communication with guests.
  • Ensure doors are unlocked and windows are clean.
  • Turn on the music system and TVs to the appropriate station and volume.
  • Attend daily staff meetings.
  • Check with the Manager for any special events.
  • Receive and make mountain information available to guests.
  • Ensure the restaurant is ready to open before seating guests.
  • Ensure the host stand is well-equipped and clean.
  • Maintain sufficient wrapped silverware for business needs.
  • Prepare and maintain a sanitizer bucket with a clean rag.
  • Prepare seating charts and assign server sections.
  • Review the shift with the Manager on Duty (MOD).
  • Understand proper food and beverage service and sequence of service specific to the restaurant style.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may evolve with business needs.
  • Function as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper culture.
  • Uphold a professional image and strive to exceed guest expectations.
