Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
  • Clear Criminal Record.
  • WHIMS Certificate (or willing to obtain).
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English.
  • Understanding and proven ability of basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and co-workers.
  • Must have the manual dexterity required for handling equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Model the organization's mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively.
  • Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Regularly show a friendly presence in common areas and resident suites, welcoming comments and suggestions.
  • Assist with special and marketing events.
  • Provide attentive care and consideration of resident, staff, and visitor requests.
  • Clean offices, staff room, show/guest suites, and common areas according to established procedures and schedules.
  • Clean and replenish public washroom supplies.
  • Maintain housekeeping storage area, cart, and equipment.
  • Vacuum all carpet areas in the residence, remove spots and stains from carpets and upholstery, and operate carpet and floor cleaning equipment.
  • Pick up and dispose of garbage from waste containers to the central garbage depot area.
  • Wash and clean common areas’ interior and exterior windows and other glass surfaces.
  • Perform additional cleaning, including washing walls, lights, vents, fans, appliances, inside windows, doors, frames, and patios.
  • Perform move-in and move-out cleans.
  • Ensure high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are maintained throughout the building.
  • Ensure a sanitary working and production environment in accordance with accepted practices and standards.
  • Complete Housekeeping Tasks Daily Checklists.
  • Instruct residents in the use of equipment, washing machines, and offer assistance in any other area of concern.
  • Conduct monthly inventory of housekeeping supplies and chemicals and notify the Administrative Assistant of items to order.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure effective team communication within the residence and log any concerns regarding resident behavior in an incident report.
  • Maintain effective oral and written communication and good human relations with residents, families, and staff of other departments, using appropriate lines of communication.
  • Ensure all Covenant Living policies are adhered to.
