The Hospitality Specialist drives profitable growth of Messer’s beverage, food (including MAP/food‑grade gases), and helium portfolio across hospitality and food & beverage customers. This role blends new business acquisition, account management, and solution selling with hands‑on coordination of installations and service in partnership with the Customer Engineering Services (CES) team, field technicians, and cross‑functional partners. Success requires deep knowledge of beverage‑dispense systems and food applications, a safety‑first mindset, and strong collaboration with CSR, CES, plants, logistics, and retail to deliver an exceptional customer experience—from scoping and quotation through installation, training, and ongoing optimization.

Requirements

  • College degree in Marketing or Technical field
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with Proven ability to achieve or exceed sales targets
  • Solid understanding of the Food and Beverage market and related processes including knowledge of beverage‑dispense systems and food applications
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to develop structured sales proposals
  • Understanding of modern business systems and tools including SAP, MS Office, Salesforce

Responsibilities

  • Champion Messer’s Safety, Health, Environment & Quality standards in all activities including at the customer; ensure compliance with food‑grade gas requirements, regulatory codes, and customer policies.
  • Conduct or facilitate on‑site safety reviews.
  • Maintain zero‑incident culture; stop‑work authority where risk is identified.
  • Build and manage a healthy pipeline to identify, qualify, and close new opportunities across bars/restaurants, venues, quick‑serve/fast‑casual chains, craft beverage producers, entertainment, and other hospitality subsectors.
  • Prospect and develop new verticals for Messer gases (e.g., specialty coffee & nitro beverages, stadiums/arenas, breweries/distilleries, food processors using MAP).
  • Conduct needs assessments and site surveys; develop proposals, ROI business cases, and solution bundles (gas supply + equipment + service).
  • Represent Messer at industry events, trade associations, and customer‑facing engagements
  • Own a defined book of business; deliver revenue growth, retention, and margin targets while improving customer experience.
  • Support activities that may include contract negotiations and renewals, pricing management, accounts receivable, quality or non‑conformance issues, and growth initiatives
  • Perform regular business reviews with key accounts and distributors; drive upsell/cross‑sell opportunities
  • Monitor usage trends, pricing adherence, and contract terms; proactively address churn risks and service gaps.
  • Deliver hospitality customer product training as required, promoting value‑added selling practices
  • Partner closely with CES and field technicians to scope installations (e.g., beverage‑dispense systems, gas blenders, regulators, safety components), coordinate scheduling, ensure site readiness, and manage change‑orders.
  • Oversee customer training; ensure accurate documentation and smooth hand‑off to service/CSR.
  • Work cross‑functionally with CSR, Plants/Logistics, Engineering, Webshop and Retail teams to keep customer operations running reliably.
  • Provide market insights to Marketing/Segment teams to refine offers, pricing, and campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively and act as a liaison and subject matter expert for the Industrial Sales team and Bulk Team
  • Maintain CRM data in Salesforce and deliver accurate weekly/monthly forecasts.
  • Track and report KPIs for the business
  • Identify opportunities for productivity improvements and cost savings within the market segment
  • Manage pricing actions, contract renewals, credit matters (with Finance/Collections), and RFP/RFQ responses as needed.
