About The Position

Ballad Group's Training Division is seeking a Home Hospitality Facilitator for their Red Deer Work Employment Readiness and Connections Program (RD WERC). This role is crucial for delivering occupational skills training with a focus on the growing Hospitality industry. Ballad Group has a history of developing workforce programs in various sectors and has worked with diverse organizations and government bodies. The WERC program aims to provide individualized skill enhancement training and job placement for multi-barriered Albertans to help them find and maintain employment. The Hospitality Facilitator will be responsible for all aspects of on-site hospitality skills development training, including delivering workshops, planning programs, and coordinating hands-on activities to meet learner needs and prepare them for the hospitality sector. This role requires excellent judgment, the ability to build meaningful relationships with participants and stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality, and a commitment to inclusion and diversity. The position is full-time and located in Red Deer, Alberta.

Requirements

  • Proven experience collaborating with professionals in the hospitality industry and building/maintaining relationships with staff.
  • Proven experience facilitating basic food prep, preparation, menu planning, and clean-up.
  • Public speaking or group facilitation experience within a formal educational environment or on the job.
  • Proven basic skill level in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • A genuine desire and passion to build relationships with various client population groups, employers, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional participant services with the ability to present ideas and/or services to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to take initiative and be resourceful in seeking out potential participants.
  • Ability to work independently while leading a team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop workshop material for classroom instruction where required.
  • Ensure all materials are prepared for distribution.
  • Develop/modify hospitality workshops and programming to meet participant needs.
  • Possess and develop working knowledge of Hospitality frameworks and teaching methods.
  • Assess and record student development, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Conduct hands-on on-site skill development training, guiding participants through food preparation, cooking, and kitchen clean-up.
  • Create weekly menus.
  • Place weekly food and supply orders with WERC vendors within budget.
  • Ensure the kitchen is cleaned and meets all permit regulations.
  • Arrange for safety tickets aligned with hospitality standards (e.g., WHMIS, Food Safety, Pro-Serve).
  • Enforce proper dress code as identified by permit.
  • Lead the development of new hospitality program material for classroom instruction where required.
  • Prepare and submit program reports to the Program Coordinator as needed.
  • Ensure Monday.com is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Submit all personal expenses accurately and on time.
  • Provide active service management of clients to ensure success.
  • Conduct follow-up and associated reporting.
  • Perform general administration, including maintaining participant files, data entry, responding to inquiries, and preparing materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
