The Hospitality Aide plays a crucial role in ensuring resident safety, comfort, and overall well-being through direct care and environmental maintenance.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain any and all required certification and/or licensure from the appropriate agency.
  • If a regularly scheduled employee, make yourself available to work as scheduled on an ongoing basis.
  • Report to work on the day and at the time indicated on the posted work schedule.
  • Report to work dressed appropriately for the work assignment.
  • Remain at the workstation throughout the tour of duty except when excused or sent by the supervisor.
  • Take breaks and meal times in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Willingly cooperate with supervisor and coworkers.
  • Comply with all appropriate standards and practices of the discipline.
  • Comply with all Goodwill Retirement Community rules, procedures, and policies.
  • Encourage professionalism, mutual respect, and teamwork.
  • Work to maintain a positive atmosphere and attitude.
  • Recognize problems that interfere with excellent care and handle them through appropriate channels.
  • Lift and/or carry light objects such as resident charts, thermometers, linen, resident care items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Push residents weighing in excess of 250 pounds in wheelchairs on tiled floors and on carpeted floors throughout the building.
  • Stand, stoop, squat, bend, reach to floor level, reach up to 6 feet above floor level, and walk up to 8 hours per shift with infrequent rest periods.
  • Exposure may occur when the Hospitality Aide comes in contact with potentially infectious body fluids or secretions (e.g., changing bed linens, feeding residents, cleaning residents after feeding, cleaning rooms after emesis or diarrhea).

Responsibilities

  • Attend shift reports to review resident conditions and events from the previous 24 hours.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality according to established guidelines.
  • Explain the physical environment, routines, and rules of the community to residents and families.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff in resident rooms and hallways.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff by adhering to infection control guidelines, including hand washing, isolation techniques, and proper disposal of infectious waste.
  • Participate in care plan conferences to assist in developing appropriate care plans for residents.
  • Ensure resident privacy through the use of room doors, bathroom doors, privacy curtains, and by respecting resident wishes.
  • Prepare residents for meals, make meals available, and provide personal assistance as needed to ensure adequate nutrition and a satisfying meal experience.
  • Monitor and record resident food and fluid intake using computerized kiosks.
  • Return meal trays and clean residents as required, using appropriate supplies to maintain dignity and a clean appearance.
  • Provide morning care, including skin care, hearing aid and eye glasses care, and personal grooming.
  • Change bed linens daily or whenever soiled, using prepared linen packs.
  • Assist residents to and from activities and programs using appropriate mobility devices.
  • Assist ambulatory residents with ambulation to maintain or improve their status and well-being.
  • Distribute morning, afternoon, and evening snacks according to dietary guidelines.
  • Spot mop floors immediately upon noticing spills to prevent falls and maintain cleanliness.
  • Keep resident rooms, closets, and drawers tidy to ensure a safe and organized environment.
  • Collect and send water pitchers for sanitizing, and distribute filled pitchers to residents.
  • Document all intake and output on "I&O" sheets according to directions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse.
