About The Position

Goodwill Retirement Community is committed to providing each resident with the assistance and support needed to achieve and maintain the highest possible level of well-being and functioning. Every employee is required to abide by specified Work Principles and Performance Expectations. This job description is not a contract and employment is at-will. The Hospitality Aide is responsible for performing duties to a performance level set by their supervisor, with input from the employee. Both employee and supervisor monitor performance for improvement and evaluation. Essential functions are those performed frequently, requiring high skill, licensure, or certification, and are highly relevant to the job. Marginal functions can be assigned to others. Goodwill aims to make reasonable accommodations for employees with difficulties performing tasks, provided it doesn't place undue burdens.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain any and all required certification and/or licensure from the appropriate agency.
  • Make himself or herself available to work as scheduled on an on-going basis (if a regularly scheduled employee).
  • Report to work on the day and at the time indicated on the posted work schedule.
  • Report to work dressed appropriately for the work assignment.
  • Remain at the workstation throughout the tour of duty except when excused or sent by the supervisor.
  • Take breaks and meal times in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Willingly cooperate with supervisor and coworkers.
  • Comply with all appropriate standards and practices of the discipline.
  • Comply with all Goodwill Retirement Community rules, procedures, and policies.
  • Encourage professionalism, mutual respect, and teamwork.
  • Work to maintain a positive atmosphere and attitude.
  • Recognize problems that interfere with excellent care and handle them appropriately.
  • Lift and/or carry light objects such as resident charts, thermometers, linen, resident care items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Push residents weighing in excess of 250 pounds in wheelchairs on tiled floors and on carpeted floors throughout the building.
  • Stand, stoop, squat, bend, reach to floor level, reach to up to 6 feet above floor level, and walk up to 8 hours per shift with infrequent rest periods.
  • Comply with OSHA rule at 29 CFR Part 1910.1030, Occupational Exposure to Blood borne Pathogens.

Responsibilities

  • Attend the shift report at the beginning of each shift to review resident conditions and events.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Explain the physical environment, routines, and rules of Goodwill Retirement Community to residents and families.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff in resident rooms and hallways.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff with respect to infection control, including hand washing, isolation techniques, and waste disposal.
  • Participate in care plan conferences to assist in developing appropriate care plans.
  • Ensure resident privacy using room doors, bathroom doors, and privacy curtains.
  • Prepare residents for meals and make meals available in the appropriate location, using adaptive devices and personal assistance as needed.
  • Monitor and record each resident's food and fluid intake at each meal using computerized kiosks.
  • Return resident trays and clean residents as required after meals.
  • Provide morning care for each resident, including skin care, hearing aid and eye glasses care, and personal grooming.
  • Change bed linens each bath day and whenever bed linens are soiled.
  • Assist residents to attend and return from activities and other programs using appropriate devices.
  • Assist ambulatory residents with ambulation.
  • Distribute morning, afternoon, and evening snacks to residents.
  • Spot mop floors immediately upon noticing spills.
  • Keep resident rooms, closets, and drawers tidy.
  • Collect water pitchers for sanitizing and distribute filled water pitchers.
  • Document all intake and output in the “I&O” sheets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse.
