About The Position

The Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF) is seeking a Hospitalist to provide medical care in Chinle, Arizona. This facility serves approximately 35,000 Navajo citizens in a rural area, where many patients travel long distances for care and may lack basic amenities. The CCHCF is a 60-bed inpatient hospital and outpatient facility offering a wide range of services. The role involves caring for critically ill patients in the Emergency Room, Special Care Unit, and inpatient wards, coordinating care with specialists, and managing general medicine problems. The position also includes administrative duties, participation in quality management, clinical conferences, and medical staff meetings. Telemedicine and telephone visits for chronic care management are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
  • Recently completed Residents will be considered with ABIM/ABFM board eligibility.
  • Must have current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States of Columbia.
  • Must have current certification in Basic Life Support at certified by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Care for critically ill patients in the Emergency Room, Special Care Unit, and inpatient wards.
  • Coordinate care with specialists both within and outside of the I.H.S.
  • See patients for general medicine problems including performing the history and physical exam, making electronic progress notes, scheduling return visits, writing orders for lab and x-ray, prescribing medications, etc.
  • Participate in quality management activities that pertain to his/her duties.
  • Hold routine administrative duties.
  • Participate in clinical conferences for staff.
  • Attend medical staff and service-level meetings.
  • Enter all medical documentation in the Computerized Patient Records Systems (CPRS) and electronically sign all.
  • Provide telemedicine services for patients with mild respiratory illness in the CSU Respiratory Clinic on site.
  • Provide telephone visits for patients in need of chronic care management for whom it would be high risk to travel to the hospital for care.
