Hospitalist - Yarmouth
About The Position
Nova Scotia Health is seeking full-time, part-time, and locum physicians for the Hospitalist program at Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH). The program currently manages 15-20 patients of mixed acuity across four Hospitalist lines. YRH is a supportive and collegial environment offering a rewarding work experience. Yarmouth Regional Hospital, founded in 1912, serves the Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby Counties with 124 inpatient beds, offering a range of primary and secondary services. It features a 24-hour level III Emergency Department, a district trauma centre, 7 ICU beds, 3 operating suites, and skilled nursing staff, with a Helipad for emergency airlifts. Inpatient units include Surgical, Medical, Obstetrics & Nursery, ICU, and Mental Health.
Requirements
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
Responsibilities
- Be accountable for management of your panel of hospitalist patients
- Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care
- Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
- Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
