About The Position

The Hospitalist Scheduler prepares assignments for the physicians each day using set protocols and the Electronic Record Reporting system. The scheduler is also responsible for answering phones and relying messages as requested to physicians as well as maintaining the physician's meeting room to ensure optimal work processes. Visits new patients daily to inform them of the Hospitalist program. Receives physicians mail and secure signatures on forms as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to consistently produce accurate work.

  • Familiarity with hospital bed/unit locations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Must be able to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability to manage time independently and ensure that timeliness standards are met.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced chaotic environment.
  • Ability to use EPIC system to change the names of assigned providers and to secure patient lists.
  • Ability to receive calls, prioritize and route according to standards.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word).
  • Ability to quickly hand-off staffing and patient concerns.
  • Ability to sort and file documents accurately.
  • Ability to proof written documents and reports for errors.
  • Ability to work effectively with providers and other members of the support team.
  • Ability to solicit and use feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Dependable and prompt/early start time is required (works alone from 5A to 7A).
  • Frequent phone calls and interruptions.
  • Stressful working conditions at times due to time constraints and competing demands.
  • Direct interactions with medical staff.
  • Ability to concentrate and block distractions.
  • Minimal backup resources available on weekends and early morning hours.
  • Employee may spend long periods of time at desk with minimal movement.
  • Ability to hear and communicate using the phone.
  • Hearing acuity.
  • Ability use computer/keyboard for several hours continuously.
  • Independently navigate between various area of the hospital and outside clinics.
  • Medical Terminology certification or knowledge required.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years experience as a patient service representative and/or registration technician preferred.
  • AA degree preferred.
