About The Position

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician to join the Hospital Medicine team at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, Connecticut. This is a full-time, salaried position with a 7-on/7-off block schedule in a community-focused hospital supported by the resources of an integrated health system.

The expanding Hospital Medicine program serves Northwestern Connecticut and surrounding communities. Physicians will practice bread-and-butter inpatient medicine with subspecialty backup in a collegial, team-based environment. The program typically has two providers per shift, a shared daily census of approximately 45 patients, and 5–10 admissions per day. The ICU is closed, with specialty and intensivist support.

The role offers opportunities to contribute to patient throughput, care coordination, quality outcomes, patient safety, and operational improvements, while collaborating with primary care providers and specialty teams. The position is based at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, Connecticut.

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Licensed or eligible to be licensed in the State of Connecticut.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient Hospital Medicine care, primarily focused on bread-and-butter Internal Medicine.
• Contribute to improving patient throughput and reducing emergency department wait times.
• Enhance care coordination and continuity.
