About The Position

OSF Multi-Specialty Group is seeking a full-time Hospitalist to work in Peoria, Illinois, in an underserved area. The Hospitalist will treat adults only and will be responsible for direct patient care, as well as communicating, implementing, and monitoring the operational and strategic objectives of OSF Multi-Specialty Group. The role involves providing high-quality patient care within the OSF system, including inpatient care and on-call availability. The Hospitalist will also assist in the direction and supervision of the daily operations of the OSF Hospital and/or Hospitalist Service, which may include supervising advanced practice providers and advising the Ministry CEO on recruitment, selection, retention, scheduling, and termination of non-physician personnel. Additionally, the role involves advising on the selection, retention, and termination of physician personnel, as well as assisting in physician recruitment. The Hospitalist will also advise on the selection, maintenance, and utilization of equipment, and provide a personalized, patient-centric experience aligned with patient preferences, goals, and needs. Maintaining consistency and quality of services, keeping medical records, and assisting in cost minimization while maintaining high-quality care are key responsibilities. The role includes providing timely consults to other medical staff, potentially providing services to free clinics, and assisting in the direction and supervision of allied healthcare workers.

Requirements

  • M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent degree
  • Completed residency in Internal Medicine
  • BE in Internal Medicine
  • Illinois license to practice medicine
  • Illinois License to prescribe controlled substances
  • FDEA license to prescribe controlled substances required

Responsibilities

  • Communicating, implementing, and monitoring the operational and strategic objectives of OSF Multi-Specialty Group
  • Provide high quality patient care to the patients of OSF
  • Provide high quality in-patient care to the patients of the Hospitalist Service
  • Provide on-call availability to patients of the Hospitalist Service and the OSF Hospital on weekdays and/or weekends as agreed upon by the parties
  • Assist in the direction and supervision of the daily operation of the OSF Hospital and/or Hospitalist Service
  • Supervising advanced practice providers (nurses, physician assistants, medical residents)
  • Advising the Ministry CEO concerning the recruitment, selection, retention, scheduling, and termination of non-physician personnel
  • Advise the Ministry CEO with respect to the selection, retention, and termination of all physician-personnel
  • Assist in the recruitment of physicians as are required for the proper operation of the Hospitalist Service and the OSF Hospital
  • Advise Ministry CEO in the selection, maintenance and utilization of equipment in the OSF Hospital or Hospitalist Service setting
  • Provide a truly personalized, patient-centric experience to patients to the Hospitalist Service and the OSF Hospital aligned to the patient’s preferences, goals, and needs
  • Maintain the consistency and quality of all services provided to the OSF Hospital and/or Hospitalist Service and its hospitalized patients
  • Maintain full and current patient medical records, including reports of all examinations, procedures, and other services performed by Physician or other support staff
  • Exercise diligence in assisting Ministry CEO in keeping OSF Hospital and Hospitalist Service costs to a minimum while maintaining a high level of quality care for patients
  • Provide timely consults to members of the OSF Hospital’s medical staff with respect to Hospital inpatients
  • Provide services to free clinics upon mutual agreement with Ministry CEO
  • Assist in the direction and supervision of the daily operation, which may include delegating and overseeing allied healthcare workers that typically provide services under the supervision of physicians, like Registered Nurses (29-1141.00) and Physician Assistants (29-1071.00)
