About The Position

Practice advanced medicine and make a lasting impact as a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (APRN) working nights at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL. This full-time position involves a schedule of 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, with 15 shifts per month. The role offers the opportunity to practice at the top of your license, delivering high-quality, evidence-based inpatient care. You will collaborate with physicians and an interdisciplinary healthcare team to improve community health by assessing patients, managing acute and chronic conditions, developing treatment plans, and ensuring continuity of care. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification in an applicable specialty
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • ACLS certification (or ability to obtain if required)
  • Current DEA registration and Illinois controlled substance license
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced inpatient environment

Responsibilities

  • Performing comprehensive patient assessments, medical histories, and physical examinations
  • Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions using evidence-based clinical judgment
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other tests
  • Developing individualized treatment plans and prescribing medications and therapies in accordance with Illinois law and collaborative practice agreements
  • Educating patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge planning
  • Collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, pharmacists, case management, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate exceptional patient care
  • Maintaining accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Supporting quality improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
