About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Hospital Medicine provides comprehensive inpatient medical care to hospitalized adult patients in collaboration with hospitalist physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The APP participates in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients admitted to the hospital medicine service, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality, and efficient inpatient care. The APP functions as an integral member of the hospitalist team and is responsible for patient assessment, development and implementation of treatment plans, coordination of care, and facilitation of safe transitions of care. The APP also provides cross-coverage and responds to acute clinical issues that arise during hospitalization. The hospitalist APP team provides 24 hours per day, 7 days per week coverage of the hospitalist service. During overnight hours, APPs may also provide house officer coverage for surgical service lines, responding to clinical issues, evaluating patients, and communicating with the surgical team. The APP practices within the scope of professional licensure, national certification, institutional credentialing, and delineation of privileges, and in accordance with applicable state regulations, hospital policies, and collaborative or supervisory practice agreements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required.
  • Current and unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of practice required.
  • Current national certification through an approved certifying body (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA) required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required per hospital policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Prior experience in hospital medicine, internal medicine, or inpatient acute care preferred.
  • Experience managing hospitalized adult patients and responding to acute clinical issues preferred.
