About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Hospitalist NP/PA position. The role involves providing hospitalist coverage for an inpatient psychiatric unit, serving patients aged 10 and older. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with no weekends or call required. The position utilizes the Cerner EMR system. Credentialing is expected to take 90 days. This is a long-term permanent search for coverage.

Requirements

  • Active Massachusetts licensure
  • FNP Board certification
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum 2-years Hospitalist experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Massachusetts
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])

  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
  • Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team
  • Candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty are preferred for locum APP positions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
