About The Position

The Farber Institute for Neurosciences at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University is recruiting Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Nocturnists in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine to join a growing, academically focused hospitalist team. This role supports the medical co-management and consultative care of neurosurgical patients as clinical faculty within the Farber Hospitalist Division of the Department of Neurological Surgery. This is an excellent opportunity for physicians interested in complex inpatient medicine, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic engagement—without ICU management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Strong inpatient medicine and clinical decision-making skills
  • Comfort leading emergency response teams
  • Interest in teamwork, teaching, quality improvement, and patient safety

Responsibilities

  • Provide overnight medical cross-coverage and consultative care for neurosurgical patients
  • Manage 15–30 cross-coverage patients per night
  • Handle approximately 4–6 new patient encounters per shift (admissions and consults)
  • Participate as team leader during code blue and rapid response events
  • Collaborate closely with neurosurgery, neurology, APCs, residents, and interdisciplinary teams
  • No ICU patient management responsibilities
  • NG tube placement required on occasion
