About The Position

The Hospital Supervisor (HS) directs and supervises daily facility operations, resources, customer satisfaction, and performance improvement on an assigned shift, working with members of the health care continuum. The HS leads teams through changes intended to improve clinical, operational, and financial performance and ensures staff provide high-quality, accessible, cost-effective, patient-focused care in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. The role coordinates and monitors staffing across shifts, maintains appropriate staffing levels and skill mix, and responds to patient and family concerns. The position requires work at both hospitals in the enterprise and availability for at least six shifts per four-week schedule, including all hospital-recognized holidays. The HS is accountable to the Director and Clinical Manager of Patient Care Resources (PCR); for the MHAS Department, the HS reports directly to the Clinical Manager of MHAS. For Patient Flow and Capacity Management assignments, the HS prioritizes and optimizes patient flow across the hospital system and facilitates patient entry from other health care facilities. The HS assesses appropriate placement of elective and emergent admissions and transfers according to clinical standards, guidelines, algorithms, and protocols; facilitates required documentation; monitors bed and patient-care capacity; and coordinates patient throughput using effective communication and patient-centered principles. The role plans, organizes, directs, and controls admissions and transfers; serves as a liaison with referring hospitals, physicians, offices, and nursing departments; and makes placement decisions based on diagnosis, unit criteria, acuity, and location. The HS oversees bed control and timely placement, identifies access and bed-turnaround improvements, expedites movement to disposition areas, and adjusts staffing and bed-management plans as needed. The role addresses barriers to flow, participates in bed huddles, monitors room availability and turnover, troubleshoots throughput issues, and alerts clinical staff to impending patient disposition. The position requires a BSN, a current California RN license, BLS certification, and either five years of current acute-care clinical experience or three years in an Assistant Manager or Hospital Supervisor role. Salary range: $80.48–$120.72 per hour. The work is classified as light work and may require occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
