About The Position

Mitchell County Regional Health Center (MCRHC) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a Per Diem (PRN) position, available for any shift. This role involves providing direct patient care within a critical access hospital setting. The RN will be responsible for the delivery of care using the nursing process, ensuring safety, quality, and continuity. They will care for medical and surgical patients, direct patient teaching, and guide ancillary personnel. Collaboration with various therapies and the provider team is essential for optimal patient care. The RN may also float to the Emergency Room and Outpatient Treatment Center with experience. The LPN will provide nursing care and assist with routine and complex medical problems under the direction of an RN. This position requires flexibility to work Sundays through Saturdays, including weekends and holidays. Compensation varies by education and experience, with RNs earning $32.49 (ADN) or $33.49 (BSN) per hour, and LPNs earning $23.99 per hour, with increases based on experience.

Requirements

  • RN: Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa.
  • RN: Maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider.
  • RN: ER - ACLS, TNCC, and PALS required
  • RN: Med/Surg/OTC - ACLS and PALS required
  • RN: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • RN: Demonstrates knowledge and support for the principles of customer relations in daily activities with others.
  • RN: Demonstrates nursing competency to provide care within the assigned unit to the population described in the scope of care.
  • RN: Must have basic computer skills.
  • RN: Completion of a telemetry course within one year of hire.
  • RN: Must be able to obtain Mandatory Reporting for both Child and Dependent Abuse.
  • LPN: Current LPN license in the State of Iowa.
  • LPN: Current IV Therapy Certification or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • LPN: Demonstrates ability and knowledge in bedside nursing skills and administration of medications.
  • LPN: Demonstrates communication skills and promotes good working relationships with co-workers.
  • LPN: Ability to recognize personal learning needs and follows through to gain new competencies.
  • LPN: Current certification in BLS/CPR for Health Care Provider Certification.
  • LPN: Must have basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • RN: Previous experience in a health care setting is preferred.
  • LPN: Previous acute care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts responsibility and accountability for the delivery of care through the use of the nursing process ensuring safety, quality, and continuity of care is maintained.
  • Provides nursing care for medical and surgical patients as assigned, while maintaining professional nursing standards.
  • Directs and guides patient teaching and ancillary personnel to include exercising independent judgment in directing the work of others.
  • Works closely with various therapies, such as RT, PT, ST, and OT to provide multidisciplinary care to patients.
  • Works collaboratively with the MCRHC Provider team to ensure optimal care is delivered.
  • Floats to Emergency Room and Outpatient Treatment Center with experience, as directed by Acute Care Nursing Director.
  • Provides nursing care to patients and assists in caring for patients with routine complex medical problems through the use of the nursing process, under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
