About The Position

Mitchell County Regional Health Center (MCRHC) is a 25-bed critical access hospital in Osage, Iowa, with a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room and a Surgical Services department. Founded over 75 years ago, MCRHC now operates three clinics, 24/7 emergency services, and inpatient/outpatient medical/surgical services. The organization has invested significantly in facility upgrades and has over 225 employees with an average tenure of eight years. MCRHC is an affiliate of MercyOne and is described as a family-oriented, patient-focused organization. For the RN role, the position accepts responsibility and accountability for patient care delivery using the nursing process, ensuring safety, quality, and continuity. The RN provides nursing care for medical and surgical patients, directs patient teaching and ancillary personnel, and works collaboratively with therapies (RT, PT, ST, OT) and the MCRHC Provider team. The RN may also float to the Emergency Room and Outpatient Treatment Center with experience. For the LPN role, the position provides nursing care to patients and assists in caring for patients with routine and complex medical problems under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Requirements

RN: Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa.
RN: Maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider.
RN: ER - ACLS, TNCC, and PALS required.
RN: Med/Surg/OTC - ACLS and PALS required.
RN: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
RN: Demonstrates knowledge and support for the principles of customer relations in daily activities with others.
RN: Demonstrates nursing competency to provide care within the assigned unit to the population described in the scope of care.
RN: Must have basic computer skills.
RN: Completion of a telemetry course within one year of hire.
RN: Must be able to obtain Mandatory Reporting for both Child and Dependent Abuse.
LPN: Current LPN license in the State of Iowa.
LPN: Current IV Therapy Certification or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire.
LPN: Demonstrates ability and knowledge in bedside nursing skills and administration of medications.
LPN: Demonstrates communication skills and promotes good working relationships with co-workers.
LPN: Ability to recognize personal learning needs and follows through to gain new competencies.
LPN: Current certification in BLS/CPR for Health Care Provider Certification.
LPN: Must have basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

RN: Previous experience in a health care setting is preferred.
LPN: Previous acute care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Accepts responsibility and accountability for the delivery of care through the use of the nursing process ensuring safety, quality, and continuity of care is maintained.
Provides nursing care for medical and surgical patients as assigned, while maintaining professional nursing standards.
Directs and guides patient teaching and ancillary personnel to include exercising independent judgment in directing the work of others.
Works closely with various therapies, such as RT, PT, ST, and OT to provide multidisciplinary care to patients.
Works collaboratively with the MCRHC Provider team to ensure optimal care is delivered.
Position also floats to Emergency Room and Outpatient Treatment Center with experience, as directed by Acute Care Nursing Director.
Provides nursing care to patients and assists in caring for patients with routine complex medical problems through the use of the nursing process, under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
