About The Position

Provides total patient care within the Emergency Department. Assists emergency physicians with care of their patients.

Requirements

• CT State PA license.
• NCCPA registration.
• DEA/State of CT controlled substance.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Works well in team environment.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, evaluates, and treats patients within the Emergency Department.
• Records all symptoms, objective findings, assessment, treatment plan and other information that is appropriate in the patient's chart.
• Assists emergency physicians with care of their patients within the department.
• Consults with supervising physicians in accordance with the department's policies and medical standards to assure patient and physician satisfaction.
• Follows accepted standards of medical practice and follows departmental policies and procedures to assure service with proper risk management.
• Orders the appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures required to evaluate the illness. Reviews EKG, culture and x-ray reports, interprets variances and acts accordingly.
• Instructs the patient and family regarding the patients diagnosis, testing, treatment, expected outcome and future prevention.
• Maintains 50 hours of Continuing Medical Education per year.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
