About The Position

A well-established acute care hospital in Nashville, TN is seeking an experienced Hospital Laboratory Director to lead and oversee daily laboratory operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality diagnostic services, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and strong financial performance. The Director will provide strategic and operational oversight while fostering a collaborative, high-performing laboratory team dedicated to delivering accurate and timely results that support exceptional patient care.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry – Required
National Certification as a Medical Technologist – Required
State Laboratory License (as applicable: CA, FL, LA, NV, TN)
Minimum 5+ years of progressive laboratory management experience
Demonstrated leadership experience

Nice To Haves

Master’s Degree – Preferred
Hospital clinical laboratory experience – Preferred

Responsibilities

Direct and manage laboratory operations, programs, and services
Ensure appropriate staffing, recruitment, training, and performance management
Monitor laboratory quality, safety standards, and regulatory compliance
Develop and implement departmental strategies to meet service, quality, and financial objectives
Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and financial performance
Maintain compliance with regulatory bodies including the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Joint Commission (JCAHO)
Establish and review laboratory policies and procedures
Develop strong vendor relationships and manage laboratory supply contracts
Promote effective communication, staff engagement, and team development
