About The Position

The Hospital Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for managing all administrative components of the hospital credentialing and privileging process for Sagis surgical pathologists. This role ensures that all physicians maintain active, current medical staff privileges across all affiliated hospital facilities. The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. This is an entry-level position that reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and proactively follow up on outstanding items
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with physicians and hospital staff

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • In lieu of a degree, 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare administrative role will be considered
  • Prior credentialing experience a plus but not required — we will train the right candidate
  • Familiarity with CAQH, hospital medical staff processes, or physician documentation a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, processes, and submits initial and reappointment applications to establish and maintain active hospital medical staff privileges for approximately 8 surgical pathologists across multiple affiliated hospitals each.
  • Maintains and updates CAQH profiles for all physicians, ensuring accuracy and timely attestation.
  • Conducts and coordinates primary source verifications including education, training, board certifications, employment history, hospital affiliations, and peer references.
  • Maintains current copies of all required physician documents including state medical licenses, DEA certificates, CME records, malpractice/liability insurance certificates, and CVs.
  • Monitors expiration dates of certifications, privileges, and appointments and proactively initiates renewals to avoid lapses.
  • Follows up with hospital medical staff offices to ensure timely processing of pending applications.
  • Communicates credentialing status updates to the Chief Administrative Officer and physicians as needed.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting body requirements (e.g., Joint Commission).
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
