About The Position

Provides transport and support for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Department of Laboratory Medicine, and their clients. Drives hospital-provided vehicles on courier routes and on-demand jobs. This part-time position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. A valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance are required by hospital policy. The employee must pass the required motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility review, driving qualifications, and training, and maintain eligibility under the hospital’s insurance guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license as required by hospital policy.
• Proof of auto insurance.
• Pass the motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility review, driving qualifications, and training required by Nationwide Children’s Hospital; maintain qualification under its insurance guidelines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to use a hospital-provided cell phone and communication tracking system.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the schedule for completing routine and on-demand routes each day.
• Handle pickups and deliveries from laboratories, pharmacies, homecare, referring hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and outpatient centers.
• Document route information and pickups according to department guidelines.
• Monitor weather conditions throughout the shift and plan for anticipated trips and delays in the region.
• Maintain the safety of cargo and vehicles in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Assist with training new staff and document their progress according to department guidelines.
• Provide efficient and effective customer service to support customer satisfaction and quality patient care.
