About The Position

Valencia County Hospital is seeking a Hospital Controller for our new hospital currently under construction in Los Lunas, NM. Owned by Valencia County and operated through a joint venture between Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) and Lovelace Health System, this startup facility represents a vital investment in rural healthcare. The Hospital Controller oversees all accounting operations of the hospital, including financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, cash management, internal controls, and financial compliance. The Controller ensures financial statements are prepared accurately and timely in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), healthcare regulations, and organizational policies.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics)
Proficiency with Healthcare financial systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, PivotTables, Power Query)
Proficiency with Microsoft Word
Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
Proficiency with Financial reporting software
Proficiency with Budgeting software
Proficiency with Business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Proficiency with Document management systems

Responsibilities

Direct all hospital accounting operations.
Maintain the general ledger.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Prepare accurate financial statements.
Ensure timely reporting to executive leadership and the Board.
Analyze financial performance and identify trends.
Maintain chart of accounts.
Prepare Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, Budget-to-Actual reports, Departmental financial reports, Productivity reports, Capital expenditure reports.
Ensure reporting deadlines are met.
Prepare supporting schedules for audits.
Oversee Revenue and Expense Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll Accounting, Budget Support, Internal Controls, Audit Coordination, Regulatory Compliance, Fixed Assets, Financial Systems.
