The Hospital Bed Board Coordinator (Part Time) will regulate bed availability throughout the hospital. Bed Board Coordinators function as key associates overseeing bed availability hospital-wide. Admissions, transfers and discharges will be monitored in real time to facilitate effectual throughput and patient flow. This role involves monitoring the admit status of patients from the ED to the inpatient/Observation setting, communicating with various hospital staff regarding patient status and bed availability, and initiating clear, concise, and ongoing communication regarding bed availability and patient flow. The coordinator will review medical admit orders for accuracy and completion, conduct walking rounds with inpatient charge nurses to establish bed status, and maintain knowledge on insurance verification. They will also operate the hospital's electronic bed board with detail and efficiency, complete a daily hospital census reconciliation, and notify relevant staff regarding bed delays. Additionally, the role requires anticipating potential barriers to admittance, unit transfers, and discharges, intervening appropriately, and maintaining a calm, professional demeanor during all interactions, especially during conflict or crisis. Adherence to organizational and departmental policy, maintaining confidentiality and patient rights, and participating in performance improvement and knowledge advancement opportunities are also key aspects of the position. Other duties as assigned by manager and/or director of care management.
