About The Position

Harborview Medical Center - Rehab OP Ortho Outpatient has an outstanding opportunity for a Hospital Assistant / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / Nursing Assistant Certified (NAR). This position assists occupational therapists, recreation therapists, and clerical staff in a variety of tasks to ensure patient care and safety. Responsibilities include escorting patients, managing inventory, maintaining equipment, and assisting clinical staff with administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Nursing Assistant Certified (NAR) certification.
  • Ability to assist occupational therapists, recreation therapists, and clerical staff.
  • Ability to escort patients between locations.
  • Ability to manage inventory (ordering, stocking, organizing).
  • Ability to maintain equipment (monitoring, inspections, cleaning, setup).
  • Ability to assist clinical staff with tasks (record retrieval, filing, faxing, photocopying, arranging interpreter services).
  • Knowledge of proper principles/techniques for all procedures, body substance isolation.
  • Ability to identify and report unsafe situations.

Responsibilities

  • Orders and stocks equipment and supplies.
  • Transports patient to and from the designated treatment area.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment, including but not limited to wheelchairs, and other workgroup equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness and order in work area, gyms, and supply and storage areas.
  • Delivers equipment to appropriate departments; obtains supplies from other departments.
  • Provides routine inspection and maintenance of department equipment; removes faulty or damaged equipment from service, and reports to appropriate personnel.
  • Moves and sets up equipment, as necessary, for therapist use and patient care; assists in setting up special equipment.
  • Maintains a safe clinical environment including aspects such as use of proper principles/techniques for all procedures, body substance isolation, and responsibility to identity/report unsafe situations.
  • Arranges for appointments such as but not limited to interpreter services.
  • Emails and alphapages workgroup members with information updates in a timely manner.
  • Transfers patient to and from appropriate conveyances (e.g., wheelchair).
  • Participates in the facilitation of communication between patients, families, and hospital staff.
