Hospice volunteers provide companionship, emotional support, and practical assistance to hospice patients and families across the Salt Lake Valley, Northern Utah, Wasatch Back, and Southern Service Area. Volunteers may visit with patients, talk, read, listen to music, play games, share hobbies, or offer a comforting presence while family caregivers take a short break. Other opportunities include administrative and behind-the-scenes work, such as organizing supplies, preparing cards and gifts, and supporting volunteer activities, community outreach, and hospice projects. The program welcomes college students, retirees, working professionals, and other community members. No healthcare, hospice, or other prior experience is required. Orientation, training, and ongoing support are provided. Assignments are based on patient needs, location, interests, and availability, with efforts made to match volunteers to opportunities near home, school, or a preferred service area. Volunteer hours can be documented, though students should confirm with their academic programs whether hours qualify toward their requirements. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
