About The Position

Bloom Healthcare seeks compassionate, caring, and committed volunteers for its Hospice Volunteer Program. Volunteers enrich the lives of patients facing terminal illness by providing companionship and emotional support, assisting with specialized therapies, and working with the hospice care team. Volunteers may also support patients’ families and friends through Bereavement Program activities. This is an unpaid volunteer position requiring a regular schedule commitment. Training and orientation are provided.

Requirements

• Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Availability to commit to a regular volunteer schedule.
• Must pass a background check and comply with Bloom Healthcare policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• No prior healthcare experience is required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Offer emotional support and companionship to patients.
• Assist in providing specialized therapies, including music therapy, pet therapy, and other alternative therapies.
• Work closely with the hospice care team to ensure patient needs are met.
• Support patients’ families and friends through Bereavement Program activities, including outreach, support groups, and administrative work.
• Follow health and safety guidelines and patient privacy policies.
