About The Position

Dependable Hospice is seeking a compassionate, organized, and relationship-focused Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to develop and oversee our volunteer program. This position plays an important role in recruiting, training, coordinating, and supporting volunteers who provide companionship, comfort, and meaningful support to hospice patients and their families. Requirements

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and professional approach when working with patients, families, volunteers, and healthcare professionals
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation
  • Comfortable conducting community outreach and developing professional relationships
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hospice, healthcare, volunteer coordination, social services, community outreach, or a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of hospice philosophy and volunteer services is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Recruit hospice volunteers through community outreach, networking, events, schools, churches, and local organizations
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and organizations
  • Interview, screen, onboard, and orient new volunteers
  • Coordinate volunteer orientation, training, and ongoing education
  • Match volunteers with patients based on patient needs, volunteer skills, availability, and location
  • Provide ongoing guidance, encouragement, and support to volunteers
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records, schedules, training documentation, and required files
  • Track volunteer hours and maintain documentation in accordance with hospice requirements and applicable regulations
  • Monitor volunteer participation and follow up as needed
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to identify and meet patient and family needs
  • Help develop and implement strategies to grow and strengthen the volunteer program
  • Evaluate volunteer program activities and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Promote the mission and philosophy of hospice throughout the community
