Dependable Hospice is seeking a compassionate and organized Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and support volunteers who provide companionship and comfort to patients and families during one of life's most meaningful journeys. Requirements
- Experience in hospice, volunteer coordination, healthcare, social services, or a related field preferred.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Compassion, empathy, and professionalism when working with patients, families, and volunteers.
- Knowledge of hospice philosophy is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Recruit volunteers through community outreach, events, schools, churches, and local organizations.
- Interview, screen, and onboard new volunteers.
- Coordinate volunteer orientation and ongoing education.
- Match volunteers with patients based on location, availability, and patient needs.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and ongoing support to volunteers.
- Maintain volunteer records, schedules, training, and documentation.
- Track volunteer hours and ensure compliance with hospice regulations.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to meet patient needs.
- Continually develop and improve the volunteer program.
