About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and families in Baltimore, Annapolis, Glen Burnie, Severna Park, and the surrounding Maryland metropolitan area. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, at a considerate pace, with a few appointments per day so the veterinarian can listen, answer questions, and support families through end-of-life decisions. Veterinarians practice independently while receiving onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. The position offers schedule options from two to five days per week, including self-managed part-time scheduling. Full-time schedules are available over four or five days, with guaranteed salary and quarterly bonus opportunities. Compensation is prorated for the selected schedule and ranges from $65,000 to $155,000. Veterinarians choose four weekend days per month rather than working a fixed weekend rotation. The employer does not require a non-compete agreement.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
Support families through end-of-life care, answer their questions, and help them say goodbye with dignity and peace.
Practice independently while working in coordination with the hospice team and using mentorship and colleague support when needed.
