The Hospice Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include following the plan of care, providing treatments, and working collaboratively with the members of the team to help meet positive patient care outcomes.

Requirements

  • Possess a current license to practice as an LPN in the state of Georgia.
  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as an LPN.
  • Preferably one of the two years in an acute, oncology, home health, and/or hospice setting.
  • Knowledge of the Medicare Certified Hospice Program preferred.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license in the state of Georgia.
  • Ability to either drive or have available reliable transportation and present evidence of valid automobile liability insurance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to comprehend written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to operate computer equipment, fax, and copier machines.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team setting as well as independently.
  • Ability to work with patients and families dealing with life-threatening illness and death.
  • Ability to assess and respond to the needs of patients and families in varied settings.
  • Demonstrates skill in nursing practice, ability to cope with family’s emotional stress, and tolerance of individual lifestyles.
  • Ability to make meaningful observations and write comprehensive accurate reports.
  • Demonstrates excellence in managing human resources.
  • Demonstrates effective public speaking skills and the ability to develop good interpersonal relationships.
