Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a state‑approved and federally compliant training program, plus passing a competency evaluation
  • At least 1 year of experience as an aide in a home care, hospice, or facility setting
  • Meets all agency hiring standards (including professional references)
  • Able to work independently while maintaining professional, respectful relationships with clients and families
  • Willing to stay up-to-date with agency policies, training, and best practices
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Commitment to our mission, Code of Ethics, and Compliance Program
  • Dependable, compassionate, and comfortable supporting clients in a home environment
  • Frequent standing, lifting, and walking
  • Occasional bending, stooping, twisting
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently and assist with client positioning
  • Comfort working in changing environments with shifting priorities
  • Travel between client homes as needed

Responsibilities

  • Follow the care plan created by the RN
  • Share any changes in the client’s condition right away
  • Help with personal care: bathing, grooming, dressing, oral care, mobility, toileting, and more
  • Assist with light household tasks: meal prep, feeding, laundry, linens, and light housekeeping
  • Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) when ordered
  • Support simple therapy-directed activities like range-of-motion exercises
  • Assist (but never administer) clients with self‑medication, following RN guidance
  • Help clients safely use home equipment like wheelchairs or side rails
  • Perform basic care tasks such as changing ostomy appliances or external catheter care (as assigned)
  • Document your visit clearly and accurately the same day
  • Work with scheduling to keep your client assignments up to date
  • Attend case conferences when appropriate
  • Maintain clear, respectful communication with clients, families, and the care team
  • Participate in training and staff development opportunities
  • Stay aligned with agency policies, safety procedures, and ethical guidelines
