About The Position

Mission Healthcare, a large home health and hospice company, is seeking a Hospice Director of Clinical Operations (RN). This role oversees clinical operations, regulatory compliance, and financial performance across multiple end-of-life care facilities within the Mission Hospice organization. The position focuses on operations oversight, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, financial management, quality improvement, and growth/outreach. Responsibilities include supporting accreditation, survey preparation, training, and developing plans of correction. The director will also partner with stakeholders to drive education and quality improvement, and stay current with CMS updates to ensure company infrastructure supports advancements. The role is remote, with a preference for San Diego, CA based candidates, and requires 50% travel to west coast locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Nursing or Related Field or Industry Clinical operational experience including regulatory, quality and education
  • Proficiency in HOPE tool and related review, actions and planning aligned to CMS guidelines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations/deadlines.
  • Strong computer and software skills with knowledge of Home Care Home Base highly preferred.
  • Self-starter, goal directed with ability to work independently and stay focused without on-site supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with agency staff, upper management, and other members of the health care team.
  • 50% travel

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of and compliance with current Medicare/Medicaid, state/federal rules and regulations for hospice services
  • Ensures compliance with the Medicare conditions of participation and other state regulations govern the provision of healthcare.
  • Complies with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements in accordance with federal, state and organizational policies.
  • Participates in organizational monitoring of the quality of medical services and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Hires, trains, mentors and develops staff and interdisciplinary teams in Hospice
  • Supports patient care standards and key resource deployment across the organization.
  • Supports Hospice educational and training program and strategy for the organization (including implementation and planning.)
  • Assumes responsibility for personal growth.
  • Develops, maintains and upgrades professional knowledge and practice skills through attendance at seminars, conferences and participation in continuing education and in-service classes.
  • Fulfills the obligation of requested and/or accepted assignments.
