About The Position

Serenity Hospice provides hospice care to patients and families throughout New Jersey. Its mission is to alleviate pain and symptoms, foster calmness and harmony, and encourage appreciation of family, friends, and life experiences. The Hospice Chaplain will serve patients and families in Mercer County by assessing spiritual and religious needs, arranging spiritual and religious support according to their wishes, and supporting families through bereavement.

Requirements

• At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
• Ability to provide interfaith spiritual care with a high level of cultural and theological competence when working with diverse faith and belief systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and teaching skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and auto liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of supervised experience in a medical, educational, or religious agency or institution.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patients’ spiritual needs, including coordinating services.
• Provide spiritual counseling and emotional support to patients and families.
• Participate in developing the care plan.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
• Communicate with patients and families.
• Demonstrate commitment to Serenity Hospice’s philosophy of care, values, mission statement, and organizational culture.
• Handle emails, voicemails, patient database charting, and related administrative tasks.
