About The Position

Cardinal Hospice is seeking a compassionate, faith-driven Per Diem Hospice Chaplain to provide exceptional spiritual care and emotional support to hospice patients, their families, and our interdisciplinary team. Requirements

  • Ordained, licensed, or endorsed minister, chaplain, or spiritual leader preferred.
  • Previous hospice, healthcare, pastoral care, or ministry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of end-of-life care, grief support, and spiritual assessment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel throughout the service area as needed.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the interdisciplinary hospice team.
  • Availability to work a Per Diem schedule based on patient and organizational needs.
  • Strong Christian counseling and pastoral care abilities.
  • Excellent spiritual assessment and active listening skills.
  • Compassionate crisis intervention and emotional support skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Public speaking experience for services, educational presentations, and community events.
  • Strong writing skills for devotionals, reflections, and educational resources.
  • Leadership qualities that encourage hope, compassion, and healing.
  • Mentoring skills that foster personal and spiritual growth.
  • Event planning abilities for memorials, outreach programs, and community engagement.
  • Exceptional conflict resolution and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to minister effectively with people from diverse faith traditions and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate Christian counseling and spiritual guidance to hospice patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Offer emotional and spiritual support that respects each individual's beliefs, values, and wishes.
  • Respond to crisis situations with calmness, compassion, and professionalism.
  • Participate as a valued member of the interdisciplinary hospice team.
  • Conduct spiritual assessments and develop individualized plans of spiritual care.
  • Visit patients in homes, assisted living communities, nursing facilities, and other care settings as assigned.
  • Facilitate prayer, scripture readings, devotional services, memorial services, and other faith-based support as appropriate.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on spiritual care, grief, end-of-life issues, and ethical concerns.
  • Mentor individuals seeking spiritual growth or guidance.
  • Prepare and deliver meaningful reflections, devotionals, and educational materials.
  • Participate in bereavement support when appropriate.
  • Plan and assist with community outreach events and programs that promote spiritual wellness.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • Manage sensitive situations and conflict with professionalism, empathy, and respect.
  • Maintain accurate documentation according to hospice policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent Cardinal Hospice with compassion, integrity, humility, and excellence.
